Dear John,

How are you? It has been some time since I last ventured onto this board to post I think. I say I think, I can never be certain when it was that I last visited. I looked for my old post but didn't find it. I believe I last posted some time in either 2025 or 2024. It feels so strange to type that. The 18 years that I have been visiting this place for seem surreal to me, as if such a thing should never be capable of spanning such a time period. I feel like an old raver leaving a rave to discover its the late 2000s. At least I assume this is what they felt like.

Anyway; I notice many of our friends on this board seem to have strange posting manners. That is what tipped me off to how long it had been, as I do not recognise any of these posts or the kind of phrasing they would use. I hope I am not being too harsh here, but I wish the new Johns would show a little courtesy to us older folk.

What originally brought me here however I suspect is to echo some of the feelings I have seen the other Johns post. Lately I find myself imagining that the whole world is grey. Perhaps this is some malady that I am experiencing, but I am inclined to think it is something shared. I don't want to complain to you at length about how I am feeling or its cause, but I would like to express minor frustration and sadness. Due to the medications that I am on, I will be dealing with my emotions with a glass of tap water instead of the usual gin.

Sincerely,
John.

Where can I find these posting guidelines? Sorry to ask, but it has been a very long time since I needed to view them and this website seems significantly more broken than it used to be. For some reason the expand rules link directs me to a page dating from 2018 stating that some things are still broken from a migration.

John,

I was slightly annoyed when I heard that element 113 on the periodic table of elements was almost called Japonium and they instead called it Nihonium. While I understand the reasoning, we almost had a "J" on the periodic table until some people decided otherwise, and that's what annoyed me. Maybe one day we will get a J or a Q; We were very close to a J.
I circled the element in question and was careful not to block out any other data for other elements in case anybody wanted to look at a version of the periodic table of elements with Nh circled. Thanks for your attention.

Best wishes,

-John

Addendum: I am a fool, the actinides are completely absent from this picture. This is an extremely embarrassing moment for me, and I apologize, however the main point of my first post still stands about the near-J addition.

My annual trip home is coming up soon. I am not taking the bus-bus-train-bus this time, however. I will actually be accompanied by someone who can drive and has a nice vehicle. I am looking forward to it.

Dear John,

Nothing really seems to continue being interesting of late. It appears life has lost its thrill, and that everything in it of magnitude is much smaller than at first glance. So, is this the way that life is supposed to be? Perhaps you feel the same way.

Anytime,

John

This
Too many obnoxiously groveling platitudes talking about how great God is and the excessive personalization of God.
Most praise and worship people I think they lack hobbies and resolve in life. That’s why they turn to religion.

>>49431
Idk people have been saying this for centuries now.
Methinks people like to personalize human events as being divinely influenced to cope with helplessness.

>There are very few things in life which are as interesting as the idea of them. I guess you could say most of life is psychosomatic

This is why I say idealism is more dangerous than materialism.
Materialism is motivated by the IDEA of luxury items, not the luxury items themselves.
It’s why romance is more tricky than lust
Lust is more consistent and flexible in its appreciation. Romance on the other hand is always trying to find “The One”, never appreciating the current partner as they are, always comparing them to previous ones.

This. Traveling is often morally imposed onto people as way to “expand their mind”, and yet the images we see on TV of colorful robes and cute trad women is actually just modern-clothes folk rushing to and fro about work and school muttering curses under their breath at you because you’re just another tourist.

I especially hate how schools often preach about diversity and force kids whom are neurodivergent or ethnically foreign into participating in group activities when theyre not comfortable.

Adults often talk about how kids need new experiences but most of these new experiences are just cliche kinesthetic activities
Real novel experiences are barred

John,

Do you ever think about the public transit system in countries with very small populations such as Tristan da Cunha? I was recently thinking about it and if the bus drivers have a schedule that allows them to operate whenever they feel like driving around. I have nothing more to add to this conversation yet.

With love,

John

Dear John,

Where I am, everything runs to a timetable. Pretty much like 'around the world in eighty days'. Although lots of road works in the built up areas, means you can throw the time table in the bin. Hey that's progress, so they keep telling me. In countryside there maybe one bus a week on like a Wednesday afternoon and no taxi service. Not much I can add to that.
Hoping to find more infrequently used bus stop.

John

>but happiness seems to require some sort of meaning/purpose on top of thay, combined with positive social relationships

NO it does not

Some people get to have that kind of life, cool
Some people put themselves (and others) through hell to get something like that, then bitch about people who don't "try" Not cool

These days I know I'm not that clever, yet now I'm a lot older the people who I thought were clever are not really
A lot of people I meet IRL interlect snobs, always show themselves up

I just nod, let live their best smug life
I see little point in pointing out anything to them
It's a waste of my time, because they are cleverer than and they know it
All most all of these smug people, won't help someone like me if they could
So Simple pleasures that make you happy with out have to rape your own soul to fit in

Hi John,

Are you the same John from the old days? I like to check in on you occasionally. It used to be once every six months, but I realise this is probably the first time in six years. I remember when we spent every night talking.

Anyway John, I hope you're well. I have fond memories of that book about not doing drugs, and of course Pepsi.

Forever yours,
-John.

irony is, doesnt Europe introduce alcohol to kids under controlled settings?

I hear people are less likely to be alcohilic when theyre introduced to alcohol under family settings with high dilution.

The globalists have absolutely covered all the bases.

Americans say the answer to tyranny is term limits, but term limits are useless when the elections are rigged.

Americans think the USA would be a free country if there were no electronic voting machines, but Canada doesn't have electronic voting machines and Canada is still a police state.

Americans say mandatory voting means freedom, but Australia has mandatory voting and is also a police state.

A Constitutional Convention won't work because if the elites don't follow the Bill of Rights now then why would the ruling powers obey a new Constitution?

The only realistic options Americans have today is to drop out, move to a small town, and buy guns, ammo, gold, and food and wait for everything to collapse.

Hi John,

OP John here - I'm back again. My wife and three year old daughter are both asleep and I thought I'd have a fun look online before going to bed myself.

I was mildly surprised to see that this thread is still here. I always get a small smile when I see that 7chan still exists. I remember making it, though would have guessed it was closer to one year ago than three.

I don't think anything major has changed in my life since creating this thread. I am just getting older. I try to eat well and exercise. My life is objectively better in every way than it used to be, but I still feel bittersweet about staying up all night refreshing image boards.

Do you miss the old web, John? The Internet feels so small these days and with all the creativity sucked out of it.

Take care of yourself, John.

Yours, always and ever,
John.
