/phi/ - Philosophy A board for pretentious debates on epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, and logic.

Apply them to anything: Science, sex, your mom's cooking. No topic is too sacred or profane.
Consider this your haven where being a self-righteous, over-analytical asshole is encouraged.

What isn't allowed:

1. /b/, /x/, or /rnb/. Go spew your unhinged rants elsewhere.
2. Brainless drivel. If you can’t string two coherent thoughts together, take it to Twitter X.
3. Claims without arguments. "Because I say so" or "because you're gay" doesn’t count as reasoning. Repeatedly trolling and bait replies without substance will be banned.

Global rules apply. No, you can’t argue your way out of a ban for being an idiot. Add to the conversation, don't detract from it.

Ideas that sound good.

But only as long as you intend for other people to foot the bill for your ideas. Whilst you intend to pay. Nothing.

I know that. I mean to say that post-primary schooling (after sixth/seventh grade) should not be compulsory. It should be paid out of pocket or require mandatory entrance exams. Otherwise, kids should go straight to work.

Yes why?
On the side note, did not ask of your political views.

Left yes.

Let us get started now.
People had inherited names.
You would take on your fathers name.
Sometimes people reinvented the same name.
It was never stolen.
Therefore last names were invented yes.
They describe an job or evolvmenthereof such.
In any way, people develop.
Bad traits are also therefore inherited as extra points.

>Be me, Parmenides, ancient Greek philosopher
>Spent years pondering the nature of reality and existence
>People think I'm crazy for claiming that only "Being" is real
>Decide to prove them wrong
>Walk into a local marketplace and start questioning everything
>"Is this stall real? Is this fruit real? Is anything real?"
>Confuse the merchants and shoppers with my deep thoughts
>They think I'm just some weird guy with a beard
>Continue with my philosophical inquiries
>"If change is an illusion, does that mean I can eat infinite gyros?"
>People give me strange looks and back away slowly
>Decide to take a break and go to a nearby tavern
>Get into a debate with some drunk dudes about the nature of truth
>We end up philosophizing over pints of ale
>People start to gather around, fascinated by our discussion

I don't think logic can meta itself. While it's integral part of reality, it cannot encopass itself and beyond while still operating within itself.

In other words, I don't think it makes sense to ask a question like that.

The answer is blowing in the wind though so it's fine to ask, but just listen and instead of a question - you have an answer.

I've been getting my toes wet in philosophy for a couple days now, and I've figured out that I strongly associte with the idea of materialistic determinism. Who are some essential writers to familiarise myself to develop this new interest? I'm not opposed to having my views challenged.

Also, I'm kind of retarded, so I'd prefer some easier reads if possible.

I made a post with the same title, but decided to delete it and make a dumbed-down version of it:

> me interested in philosophy since young kid
> me wanting to write philosophy book
> me not wanting to read philosophy book
> me think is unnecessary to read all book, when one can grasp fundamental ideas and apply to other fields
> me unsure if must read philosophy book to seem legit in dialogues with others (+writing)
> me believes 10 tools more important/useful than 1000 books of information
> hence, me invest in tools over the years instead of reading
> me refer to philosophical branches, anyways (subconsciously) > resulting in on flowing discussions
> me not wanting a title in philosophy
> me wanting to speak in front of an audience in future
> me having million dollar dilemma - me arrogant for thinking = reading philosophy unnecessary? For me thinks most books are recycled ideas, like hero vs villain, meaning of life, God etc.
> me thinks - why reinvent the wheel, when me can roll.

Philosophy is idealism, which is the heart of malehood.

Philosophy is just adults complicating things to create an articial product called maturity.
