First off, hello there, I'm deadbabies, and I will be taking over as /sci/ moderator. Rules will remain the same. Please use the report function if you see posts that violate the rules, but also do not abuse it.

I have officially expanded the scope of /sci/ a bit. You may discuss Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics here now. No science is discriminated against as long as it's of the peer-reviewed variety. If someone wants to discuss Anthropology or Social Science, by all means, let them. If you do not like it, just don't post in the thread.

The IRC channel #/sci/ is now (finally) re-registered and I am running as operator on here. Feel free to stop by and say hi. I do leave my computer idling on IRC, so check back or leave me a message if you have any ideas, suggestions, or just want to tell me off. You can get onto #/sci/ by joining the server irc.7chan.org at port 6667. You can also use SSL at port 6697 but you will have to set your client to accept invalid certificates.

ADDITIONALLY and IMPORTANTLY I have had several requests on IRC regarding the old Ebook FTP that we used to have. Unfortunately, the mod who ran it entered the military and no longer runs or maintains it. I have no plans to make another one, but if one of you guys would like to, by all means advertise here.

That being said, I'm just going to leave this link here:

http://ebookee.org/index.php?tag=7

You may find what you seek here.

I will be unstickying the old ebook/source articles thread. Please post any new ebooks/source articles here, and feel free to post any working links from the old thread there; I will eventually be deleting it.

Sleeping is not just nice but it is healthy as well. Lack of sleep can cause some serious health issues, like depression, memory loss, increased blood pressure and risk of stroke, so make sure that you get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Here is what happens to the body if you do not sleep.

If you want to make a good batch it is necessary to purchase the right precursor chemicals and essential chemicals. Usually it's easy because some websites that are targeting hobbyists can provide you with certain ingredients. You could, as an example, stumble upon a soap making store. There you can buy potassium hydroxide (which is used when someone is manufacturing soft soaps) and with it you can break up polymers that are found in Sudafed or ephedrine pills.
Also, when you are "cooking", you need to dispose of cyanide waste. This can be done by using bleach. The ultimate bleach you can acquire is 15% hypochlorite solution and ordinary pool suppliers sell it so there is no worries about transaction.

1) Add an equal amount of sodium hydroxide to your container of cyanide waste.
2) Add water to this mixture so you create a solution.
3) After that you slowly, while stirring constantly, pour in about 4 volumes of bleach to the cyanide solution.
4) You are done. The whole process will generate plenty of heat so when the container starts steaming you should let the liquid cool down.
5) After cooling down, pour the water solution down into the sewer. If you don't do this then authorities can trace the source of all this cyanide waste.

I would also recommend this article from the Journal of the American Chemical Society. There you read about the experimental details regarding converting allylbenzene into methylbenzylcarbamine. The only negative aspect about it is that there might be regulations on selling allylbenzene to customers.

Why do all that when you can get pharma grade shit and not have a lab in your home that would highly incriminate you in the eyes of LE if found? Unless I guess you're a poorfag.

Chemistry is cool, but not if you have to do time for your innocent little hobby. Just go where it's decriminalized and buy some and use some, problem solved. As another poster on rx mentioned, that shit is mostly legal to get in many south american countries. Think with your head guys. Info is cool, but unless you literally want to become a drug lord, stay away from actually doing that shit.

http://livingstingy.blogspot.com/2022/12/ford-mustang-mach-e.html?m=1

I had a chance to see a Ford Mustang Mach-E up close today and speak with the owner. He bought a basic model for about $42,000 sticker, with a 250-mile range (a little light - 300 seems to be the "go to" number these days). But it was interesting to see.

Even as a base model it had a nicely stitched leather interior. And all the door and body panels fit properly and evenly. No trim pieces were falling off or loose. It had the build quality of a typical Ford - perhaps slightly better - and that is not a bad thing. Ford has made millions - billions - of cars since 1908. They seem to have it figured out.

It is about the same size and shape as the Tesla Model Y, which unlike the Model-X, ditched the troublesome and pointless "gull wing" doors. Given the bad press about those doors, I think they are not a selling point, but detract from the value of the Model-X. The big difference is in price - the Tesla Model Y is nearly 50% ($20K) higher in price - and there is a substantial waiting list to get one, too. The model X is more than double the price of a Mach-E.

If you need service for your car, well there is a Ford dealer in nearly every town in America. Granted, not all may have qualified mechanics (yet) to work on the electronics, but everyday items, such as body, trim, brakes, and whatnot, can be repaired at the dealer. Tesla? The repair centers are few and far between, and the wait times for parts and the difficulty of repair are legendary.

And this is just one product from one manufacturer. What will the EV market be like in 2023 and beyond, as nearly every automaker on the planet offers a line of EV models? Tesla has made big noises about its poorly designed (and embarrassingly named) "cyber-truck" which, like the Elio, is slated for production "next year" (every year). Meanwhile, Ford and Chevrolet are actually selling EV pickups, without fanfare or noise or hyping their stock price on Twitter. And despite the FUD, they probably will sell well for a niche market of users.

Tesla's P/E ratio is down from a staggering 1000 thanks to the collapse in share prices (investors are seeing the writing on the wall) to a still staggering 45 or so. 20 is a more rational target - either Tesla has to double profits or the share price has to drop by half to be rational, particularly in an era where Savings Bonds (Series I) are paying 6% or more for chrissakes. Ford's P/E ratio is down to less than 8, which means Ford is earning a staggering 12.5% on investment, and paying dividends to boot! The latter is something Tesla never has done and promises never to do.

Hello /sci/!

Does anyone please know about an image organizer that doesn't change the image file while adding metadata? I've heard about a program where every image gets a "card" that tags along with it and where the metadata is stored.

Preferably free, or at least not a subcription service.

Thanks in advance!

I've got a solar panel that's putting out about 23 volts and has a 12/24 controller built into it, and a standard 12v marine battery.

The two should apparently just connect directly and the controller should recognize the battery is 12V so as not to burn it out- but how do I actually verify that when set up it's correctly configured?

Output seems to be 14.4V at the battery terminals; but when I tried to check the amps it set fire to my multi-meter. How many amps are meant to travel between the controller and the battery? Should that cable be 4mm by any chance?

>>
solar dibarra 25/04/25(Fri)18:49 No. 18806

maybe theres a controller switch, verify you got positive and negative identified

>>
Anonymous 25/04/26(Sat)08:44 No. 18807

>verify you got positive and negative identified
Well regarding the panels this can actually vary depending on whether they are wired in series or parallel, currently they are wired in parallel so positive-positive-positive, negative-negative-negative.
>maybe theres a controller switch
Nope, it's a physical circuit with terminals.

I think what's happened is that the circuit is correct I just need 50AMP lines for the battery-controller and my multimeter wasn't intended to measure three phase DC at these amps. Given the thickness of the multimeter wires in hindsight, this is understandable

Only a few options:
>Work for a not-publicly traded software company
(They're not hiring at the moment, so you already need the job now)
>Think up some niche useful application, write it, and sell it.
>Develop a small vidya thing, put it on Steam/Switch, and pray
>Learn car programming/electronic repair, especially for vehicles from 2005-2017 or so, as they're no longer made but need repairs regularly.
>Learn programming for some other obsolete system used at your local power plant or something that will never get replaced.
