preemptive tl;dr: computer freezes and reboots by itself

i suspected a memory failure. using windows' tools and tertiary software, i ruled that out. i tested the hdd aswell. also out. ran malware tests too just in case, all clean
tomorrow im getting a new multimeter to check my psu (which is sorta new, if generic). anything i can use to check my cpu and mobo? shit is driving me crazy

a little background, pc has been malfuncioning for a while, but it got worse since an electric overcharge shot the original psu down. had to buy a new one and take out the mobo for repairs

specs: generic 550w psu
1tb hdd
4gb x2 ddr3 ram
apu a10 5800k cpu
a55bm-a/usb3 mobo
had this thing since 2014

You can disable automatic reboot in event of a kernel panic (BSOD), that'd come close to ruling out a crash causing the reset.

Right click on start, Run, sysdm.cpl, OK, advanced, settings under startup & recovery, uncheck the box next to automatically restart, ok, ok, reboot. Now if the OS crashes it'll stay at a blue screen. Pic related, it's the Win10 version of a BSOD.

But going into a completely new environment like Linux is a better test if you can live with it for long enough for you to be confident that it's not happening.

If its still happening I'd say your power supply is probably the cause. Never ever skimp on the PSU.

Or dual boot.
Get 2 HDs, one for windows one for *nix. One of the good things about mint is you can customise the bootloader. When I boot my PC I get a choice between the two and if I don't answer in 10 seconds it starts loading mint automatically, I could just as easily set it to default load windows, last used OS etc.

I say mint, you can do this with most bootloaders that come with a *nix distro, only this one didn't require any setup and autodetects other OSs so I plug in another drive with an OS e.g BSD or windows XP I could choose to boot that OS...

BEST HACKER IN THE WORLD! Doncola 19/06/29(Sat)00:23 No. 22675 ID: 4f7da6 [Reply]

I spent a lot of years trailing and researching the worlds most prolific hackers. From 2000-till now Royalblade has been the most talked about and most effective hacker. I have followed his marks from when he did that college debt payment for folks on YouTube. I know about his involvement with the feds when they hired him to track and recover stolen bitcoins lost from bitfinex wallets in 2016. Dude is simply the worlds best considering that he still remains anonymous.

problems updating chrome portable. Anonymous 20/04/30(Thu)00:41 No. 22773 ID: 73e3a3 [Reply]

SO I currently am running chrome portable Version 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) (64-bit) and I wanted to upgrade...
But have run into a problem. The installer seems to have ignored where I directed it to install and it's put in a second copy.
so now I have a copy here
"F:\Program Files\GoogleChromePortable\GoogleChromePortable.exe
and here
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application
which has a 81.0.4044.129 folder.

Can I just delete the stuff in the c: drive Chrome folder (as it doesn't appear to have any of the tabs/ bookmarks) ?
I have tried to get the installer to use the F: drive but the version # hasn't changed.
Help.

Couldn't you set the new version of chrome to be the default browser? Try opening it in the new file location

>>
Anonymous 20/05/23(Sat)03:15 No. 22780 ID: a115ac

Couldn't you just, I dunno, copy the files from directory A to directory B after backing up directory B somewhere else just in case it all goes horribly wrong?

The only time Chrome installs under AppData is when you run the installer w/o administrative privileges, so that might be part of your problem.

Twitter Hack Anonymous 20/03/18(Wed)20:52 No. 22758 ID: 490ebc [Reply]

Is there any way to send a DM to a twitter user that doesnt follow you. Because the new system makes it mandatory on both side to be following each other to be able to send DMs.

Is there a way to counter this? Hack around it?

I am looking for an operating system that meets the following criteria
I have looked on Distrowatch and done loads of searches.
I have tried many distributions of Linux and the BSD variants. I have tried openindiana, I just cannot find one that works for me
The best I have tried so far is AntiX linux but I dont trust the devs, To be perfectly honest. When I mentioned that I had installed xfce4 and tint2 and was using xfce like openbox, I got the impression they were almost religious about the fact that I should be using ICEWM and the devs just seem a bit bizarre at Antix
Here's what I thought of the ones I've tried so far

openindiana. Unix, based on illumos. Great Unix distro really great, except I couldnt get it to work with my keyboard, a Roccat Suora. Would use it if I could just get my keyboard to work with it

MX linux, ridiculously bloated
Devuan, Overly complex installation procedure, gave up
NetBSD, great distro, too slow as a desktop OS
Refracta,too complex to setup
Dont like any other BSD due to the taste of tranny CoC
Void Linux hahahahahahah what a joke.
Obarun, too complex to set up
Message too long. Click here to view the full text.

Just follow a Devuan install guide on Youtube, enable same password for root and your user and learn how to partition on MBR/GPT drives. Try Anti-X or PCLinuxOS, the latter looked pretty bloated but it's worth a try.
