Hey guys, is anyone here interested in VTOL concepts?

What do you guys all think about Alef model A?

This is a video of their earlier model:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fK_WaeXprrk

I'm not the YouTube fag, I just want you to see what is already on the market and ask whether you are a fan of it, personally I'm very excited.

yes, vertical takeoff and forwards flight mode, like a helicopter that can fly forwards non retardedly. Obviously they need a bit more work on it, but the concept's good.
Might seem silly, but with this they can travel (in forwards flight mode) like 5x times faster if not more. While still have the benefits of vertical takeoff, which is mostly not needing a landing strip, and thus being able to land on rooftops or backyards.

first, the fact that they discovered or re-discovered that a conventional drone, with the rotors in parallel towards the ground is magnitudes slower than forwards flying drone with rotors perpendicular towards the ground, but this introduces complexity, since you ideally want both parallel for minimal takeoff, meaning no need for landing track, and forwards for high speed.
So that, it adds complexity, because you either have both or make the rotors transition from one state to another.
Then there's this fucko (1st pic) which says fuck it I'll land like a madman to remove complexity and one isn't sure if it is genius or just madman. However that's a very original take.
Then there's the question of who will be using these, and an easy take is that it will be taken by very rich people on their trip to the office from the far away suburbs. Not extremely rich because that one will probs take an heli. Why would somebody do that? Because city roads are collapsed in the morning and evening by people going to work.
I think these two points are enough for now.

>1st point
Not mad. Good concept
>2nd point
Rich or not, it will never be mainstream in the civilian sector, because people are too dumb and careless to operate it. Autonomous? Yes. But like flying cars? No. It's just not the kind of society and not the kind of people that we have that would make sense to do that with. It's too dangerous unless it is for military where people can be trained and monitored and have a structured life. Flying is inherently more dangerous than driving on a road. Most people are too stupid for flying. It really takes a certain kind of mindset. Even in the military it's still dangerous. But there are people in the military more willing to accept the risks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think even people with small airplane licenses crash all the time. This is actually quite similar. Although helicopters are more expensive so there's more filtering in terms of character who gets the licenses, but even those crash, this would be both a heli and a plane. Sorry, but I just don't see it happening, unless AI completely changes the entire global society. But at that point AI can fly you safely anyway, so who cares.

it's an interesting discussion, I'm kind of fantasizing about some city for richfags kinda like the rich arabs, where they let free reign. otherwise at the very least in the first world that shit won' "fly".
I can also see grand canyon tours in those. And it's kind of safe to assume that they'll leave it all be taken care of by AI. there's an interesting take by some poster I read once. the era of secure airplanes was kickstarted by adventurous richfags of the old times, they crashed and burned like mad men, but in return we got many advancements on aeronautics security and safety development. maybe some third world places can provide reign for this to happen, but I'm not sure if richfags of the now are feeling as adventurous anymore

wanna know a good argument against in-city v-tols? birds
somehow not an issue for helis, somewhat of an issue for commercial planes (they try to keep the landing tracks free of birds with predator birds), so I wonder how'd v-tols deal with that
another point is that decaf v-tol is fine, but as lelon mucus pointed out, we need supersonic ones
>for what
to reduce 10+h intercontinental flight times, but I guess that's a whole another category

There are flying cars, why do few?
Well in my country we have just had over thirty-five years off illegal, some semi legal and other actual truly legal (those were very few and far between )
And well we have more twice as many cars and even more bad drivers to people who can't drive.
Oh, people call it all kinds of things , insanity, ridiculous, dangerous, criminal, scary....
You got me point, I call it entertaining, if you're sitting somewhere with a good view.
Trick is don't get close. It can be dangerous, some of these new people kind of can work a motor vehicle, they just leave the rest to god. Look both ways when crossing the street.

Right so the problem with flying cars are to many OP's back OP before the www meant Other People.
Happy now or were actually looking for a petrol head / grease monkey?

As weekly shit poster hopefully they got caught by being dumb enough to try and post that shit on wizchan, lol.
Also why does anyone post that shit here and not join the /VIP orany of the people old mothers fax machines.
I mean before Elon twitter did it all, then they switched to Masterdon where it was so obvious that what happened. That everyone knew what was going on.

I pray 🙏 that some day soon everyone will convert to carrotdom. Sow just a few seeds a month.
Ah, if you're outside and it's been raining, just bend down give Mother Earth a gentle fingering...
Even if you don't have a Carrot seed on you...

I recently hit 180kph on my motorcycle (slowly working my way up to 280). 140kph is pretty normal and boring. 160 you start thinking "oh shit" as the wind picks up. 170+ you feel like you are doing something you shouldn't be doing, like tickling the balls of death, but at the same time you feel a strange calm as the motorcycle plants itself into the wind and your mind enters a high-focus mode.

I was thinking about how many people throughout history ever got to go this fast. Maybe less than 1%? But then I thought about how in the future people might see what I'm doing and think "how pathetic" while they thread their personal jet through canyons at mach 2 or whatever.

Anyway long story short I wish I could have my own personal jet. I doubt it'll ever happen in this world though. The main limitation as I see it is the cost of the jet fuel. Jet engines just aren't efficient so you'd just be dumping a constant stream of money to stay in the air. I'd like to be wrong though, it'd be fucking sweet.

With the riced cars i have now it's easy af to hit 200kph literally in seconds but I'm so poor I cant afford expensive new tires like pilot sport and if I buy used you never know what their history is... so I just don't go faster. Back when I was younger and dumb i had a car with like 120hp an old Mitsubishi Galant with fuck knows what tires and I hit 200 downhill on the Autobahn while going to spain and carrying like 200L of grapejuice in glass bottles right behind me lol. But that must have helped me keep planted, many older cars aren't aerodynamically made for that so you gotta be EXTREMELY careful with steering input or you'll kill yourself. Cause they have a lot of lift. Even with great tires unless you have aero or know very well how your chassis behaves in high speed i would advise against going more than like 260. Luckily usually it's already limited by gearing.

But even like a gtr r32 I think I saw dude spin out on a high speed run literally almost no steering input, just flew. He had a cage and was unharmed, but car was gone.

Yeah I used to drive a Cruze and overtaking at 140kph the tyres would start to get squirrely so that's the fastest I went. My 90s Mitsubishi Magna would top out at 140 as well. I think police generally don't pursue over 200kph
