Not strictly philosophical and a site most of you probably know, but I think TED should be included in any listing of this type. For those of you who do not know about it, it's a site that has a bunch of fascinating talks about a variety of subjects. In some cases posing questions, others positing thoughts, others defining problems, still others proposing solutions, describing/demonstrating technology, etc. etc. etc. taken from an annual conference where they bring together speakers from various fields to share ideas.

There are far worse things you can devote 20 or so minutes to than listening to a few of these.

Yea, Ted.com is great, but I think all the phi students would be lost. They're still stuck trying to figure out if it's possible there's a reality or existence, and there on Ted are all these people that are making definite statements about things.

The 'philosophy-student-still-trying-to-prove-external-world' stereotype is something which is almost unique to contemporary analytical philosophy, what with its hereditary focus upon reason, 'truth' and logical necessity. Seeing that analytical philosophy is about the only type taught in the anglophone west, it is not surprising that such nonsense abounds. The so-called 'continental' philosophers have far less problem in this area since they are not trying to step on the epistemologists toes, and are instead more properly concerned with meaning (in general, anyway).

I cant find an online copy but F. Beisar's 'The Romantic Imperative' gives a very good, and often funny, accout of the philosophical origins of the early german romantics. Of note it also gives a secondary account of the breakdown of Kant's Enlightnement/copernican project, by way of an account of its detractors and countermovements.
