Has anyone here gone back to dedicated music players, or never gotten rid of them? I recently got tired of subscription services and got a modded ipod off of Ebay, and not having some bullshit being advertised to me in between every other song on an album without paying for a subscription to make it stop made me fall in love with music again. Even if you're not nostalgiabrained like me get something more modern. I highly recommend it especially if you're not uncomfortable with pirating music.

I had an airport classic until the 3.5 mm port got fucked. I was a really nice device. I liked it. Then I had WM1A. That was even nicer but I'm a poor fag and eventually needed some money.

Nowadays, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't just use a dongle. The best one for low money is onix xi1

I just want something I can listen to music with that nobody can call me on and doesn't shove products down my throat. That's literally my main reason. I have even taken to downloading podcasts on it and treating it like a digital newspaper because that's how burnt out I am of ads.

I kind of retard you are or what kind of services you use, but I don't have any subscriptions and I pretty much never encounter ads.

As for no calls, I can turn off airplane mode whenever I want.

All UIs suck except android.

Download and use musicolet (it's free, ad free and is better than any ither software out there) if you don't listen to predominantly hifi files and enjoy your fucking easy life.

Economies of scale motherfucker. Something like WM1A which has much worse graphics, much worse UI, much worse flexibility, much worse processor and this just worse than every way except for sound quality - Costs a few times more than a decent or even good 256gb phone.

But you do you bro, I'm just sharing my wisdom.

I really like the ui of the ipod, and the tactile yet smooth click wheel is unrivaled in the touch screen world.
There's also nothing like it from a security perspective. Imagine Google putting out a device with no GPS or Wifi capabilities in 2026.

Very nice. How do those sound compared to something like a cd player/dap?
>>23215
The UI and touch wheel are honestly just nice touches for me. The real magic is Itunes. I download all my music in FLAC and either convert it to ALAC or high quality AAC. It's got all the metadata and itunes just automatically organizes it for me.

I remember going into the iTunes files and backing up songs to burn to cd.
I also remember going into the iTunes files and finding that they had renamed them, making it impossible to use those files outside the program. Would've been... 2009ish?
Dunno what it looks like now, I use GTKPod, which is clunky but works. It has bulk renaming capabilities and saves metadata in a way thats compatable with most things. But it's clunky.
Also, if I'm paying for music, I prefer it on a physical medium, but you do you fam :)
