People need to stop seeing politics as a game of parties, but instead a game of interest groups competing for control. This is tribal warfare of hundreds, if not thousands of different tribes (some with more or less power than others, sometimes a lot more, sometimes a lot less), however they all play the game the same way.
If someone from their own tribe gets into the federal reserve, they are going to make decisions that work best for themselves, and the things that they identify as being 'of themselves'. It would be very unlikely for someone to just act against their own interests like this in such a KEY position of authority...
So, anyone or any group with such a massive amount of control and power that says they are a-political, is lying to you, to your face. It might not be overt, but they will absolutely make decisions, and they are very likely to not be rooted in principal.
