hey, speaking of Best Korean internet
america's elected corporate sockpuppets are going balls to the wall to heavily censor the internet, and indeed, if they repeal the linked section, it will essentially kill social media as site owners will be liable for any content posted to their site
the rationale is that traditional publishers/media (the folks losing ground/legitimacy/revenue) are liable for things they publish, however, the act of publishing is selective and requires cognizance of the material being released to the public, whereas, sm functions more as a community message board where what is posted is moderated to some degree, but no individual/entity is liable (fairly sure this is the case, for example: if someone posted cp on a telephone pole, would the owner of the pole be liable?) as they are only providing the space and not the ones explicitly making information available to the public
of course this is all being done in an effort to 'protect the children'... because, ya know, society of butt-hurt snowflakes that need a nanny state to wipe their ass
