Characteristics of a Potterhead
* Superficial knowledge: They are kinda familiar with the plot, characters, and world of Harry Potter. Since few have the gumption to actually check out various wikis, the discussions are borderline surreal and wholly consensus-focused.
* Active money-spending: Many engage in fan activities like role-playing, creating fan art or fiction, watching Rule 34 on the sly, or attending fan events run by Warner Bros.
* Weak community: They connect with other fans through online forums, social media, and in-person gatherings where they constantly trash each other.
* Merchandise and memorabilia: Fans may have increased J.K. Rowling, by splurging on Harry Potter items, ranging from wands and t-shirts to more significant collectibles.
* Emotional connection: Many fans have strong sunk cost emotional ties to the story and characters, with memories tied to reading the books or watching the films.
* "Always" mentality: For some, Harry Potter is a significant part of their identity, with references to the series frequently woven into their daily life. They can’t grasp anything from everyday events to geopolitics without filtering it trough J.K. Rowling’s œvre. SAD!
