Look, I myself am I'm more of a Akira, berserk, Miyazaki, Hunter D type of guy, but one cannot argue against the fact that the disappearance of haruhi suzumiya is a better animated film than pretty much anything produced in the West. Sure, it's not perfect, but name me one Western film which equals it in any aspect from entertainment, to philosophy, to the beauty of animation and characters, to emotional depth...
It may look like just another movie, but it's a masterpiece in the genre of animated movies. Few will understand the real depth of it and all of the subtle nuances which are indeed deliberate. It's a standalone masterpiece. A commentary on existence itself.
