Intimacy, relationships, and connection are important if not necessary parts of human life, Anonymous. Intimacy doesn't necessarily mean sexual or romantic. Intimacy can simply be close friendships or strong family bonds. Regarding sexuality, there's a few developmental theories that posit overcoming the sexual objectification of others is a necessary part of developing truly close, and strong friendships outside of the family. The only thing I can briefly say on it is this: remember, everyone is human and fallible; if you can be nothing else in this life, be kind.
