Those were word filters on /b/ for "fag" and "retard" respectively. Pretty sure they were turned off, but some people might type them out ironically (or unironically?!). There are still a handful of word filters on /b/, but for the most part, they are in /fail/. My favorite was newfag filtering to "silly sausage."
