For certain boards such as NSFW or certain SFW ones it would help organizing stuff that should be contained in general threads.

Since otherwise I worry it'll just do what it did to failchan: sterilize every board with general thread #7777.

I dunno if separating them into general boards would work or having some general tag system within a board would work best.

I have a lot of experience with libertarian news bot who has been doing the same thing for over a decade. It's not something you can deal with by individual peace meal bans. It targets small chans and image boards as well as some other forums such as godlike productions, lunatic outpost, F2BBS. The same things, never interacting, again and again for years and years. I urge you to pay close attention to it because it can and will flood the board if given the opportunity.

Is it possible that some of the threads from /sm/ could be re-added to /sh/, since many would still belong there? It's a shame to lose out on some of the posts and images when the board that replaced it really isn't that different in subject matter

Alternatively, are there any archives of /sm/ threads anywhere?

No but "furry images" is a catch-all, and what I'm saying is that 4cucks at least separated the definition of "furry porn" and "furry images" within the last few years. If /fur/ has a more /r9k/ or lounge side that isn't just image dumps, it may be good, but I don't like scrolling through my image collection for 15 seconds longer to find non-furshit. It's not the end of the world, but I wish the rules about furshit were at least more transparent. Like can we post cartoon animals at all?
