There are a lot of poorly written elit online. I want to address and discuss some key problems that many of them have.

1) The story lacks conflict- This is a feature of elit that makes it easy to write in the ero parts, but makes the story boring otherwise. While the author can get away with this, it makes the protagonist seem like he is handed everything, mostly because in fact the author is handing the characters everything they need to meet the author's ends. Life isn't like that, and smart readers recognize this.

2) The characters suck- they are boring, 1 dimensional, too similar to each other, or too stereotypical. The easy part of elit is that your reader is seeking your story out because it has some aspect they're interested in. They want your story because of it's tags. So, it's the author's job to keep the reader in for more than just ero material. The characters should exist for more than just the author's ends. This means having their own goals, doing things non-ero plot related, and having personality traits that do more than lead to ero.

3) The ero is inevitable- at no point in many of the stories I've read have I ever doubted the MC was going to get what he had coming. This means that there's no tension which is an aspect of storytelling that draws in the reader and keeps them coming back. When you read that the leads are total sluts, you know that they're going to get it on, and it's going to be boring. This is solved by giving characters conflicting goals, obstacles, or personality traits.

4) Proper imagery- fanservice is the grey area between boring literature and the main ero. When writing, the author is in charge of what the reader imagines. Giving the reader bits and pieces of what they want before the main event whets their appetite, and comforts them so that they know that something big is coming. Unfortunately, this is difficult for many tags- some are appreciated because they do not fit into the day to day, or someone would not do them offhandedly. I appreciate the difficulty in adding this element, but am interested in finding a better way to do it than having characters tease directly (this makes it seem like the ero is inevitable) or have 'panty shots', which I feel don't really work with the literature format.

5) where is my ero?- There should be a fair amount of tags to draw different readers in, but if they're skipping story to get to the part they want, then they're 'cheating' and waste the effort the author takes in writing. proper imagery should help prevent this, but if they get to an ero section that doesn't have what they want, they'll either skip sections or quit. This can be prevented by keeping each ero section thematically similar, instead of changing tags every scene. This also forces the differnce between each scene to be how far the events between characters progress.

6) I can see the man behind the curtain and he sucks- In some stories, it feels like parts of the author stick through. But this isn't a poem from my lover and the reader doesn't care about the author, and doesn't want to hear his voice while he's reading ero. This can be especially apparent and off-putting when the MC is a middle aged white man with a boring but stable job and a geeky hobby. I think this mistake can be corrected by defining the characters' traits beforehand, and using those as a mask.

7) grammer, spelling, punctuation, and literacy- the author simply cannot write well, did not speel check, didn't use proper formatting and/or uses the same few words or phrases over and over again. Spelling, grammar and formatting can be fixed by not being retarded at english, and repetition can be fixed by proofreading, a thesaurus, and being more literate.

Since this thread sounds like 99% requests, I'd love to have another that's actually elit writing discussion, but since this thread seems to be the catch-all for non story threads, I'll leave it here for now.
